  29. AFTER READING THE LICENSE AND WARRANTY INFORMATION BELOW, FOLLOW THE

  32. Place the diskette into the appropriate drive on your system.
  33. From the Windows Program Manager, choose the "File Run..." command.
  34. In the Command Line field of the File Run dialog, type the drive
  35. letter, followed by a colon, then type "\install.exe" into the field.
  36. For example:
  37.     b:\install.exe
  38. Click on OK, and the install process should initiate.

  40. If the uninstalled distribution already exists on your hard drive,
  41. (you unzipped it to there, for example) you can install from there by
  42. entering the full path name to install.exe in that directory.

  297. All sample files were created with an HP LaserJet IIIP printer
  298. selected.  All text uses TrueType fonts.

  300. You can change the typeface of all symbols in a chart at the same time with
  301. the Symbol Text Fonts command (Tool Bar button with the single "F" in it).
  302. Select all symbols (Symbol Select All), then click the "F" button. From the
  303. font dialog, select a typeface name that you want. If you only change that,
  304. all other font properties will remain unchanged. You can do this with any
  305. group of selected symbols.

  311. Where the Tool Bar Icons Are Defined
  312. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
  313. Each Tool Bar Icon button selects a command from the menu. To see
  314. what commands are tied to the Tool Bar, move the mouse cursor over the
  315. Tool Bar Button in question. A yellow window will appear to the right
  316. of the buttons, showing the command that is tied to that button.

  318. Printing Problems
  319. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
  320. Chartist uses a lot of different text and graphics commands for drawing
  321. to displays and printers. Some printer drivers distributed with Windows 3.1
  322. have bugs in them (!), causing incomplete drawing of symbols or lines at times.
  323. We know that the HP LaserJet II series (and clones), and some HP LaserJet III
  324. series printers can exhibit these problems. The drivers released in the
  325. fall of 1992 and later correct the known printer driver bugs with respect
  326. to Chartist and Chartist-2. You need to get these drivers from Microsoft.
  327. If you have access to Compuserve, they are available in the Microsoft
  328. Software Library. Download the file WDL.TXT for an up to date listing of
  329. the available driver updates. You should also be able to get the latest
  330. driver from your printer manufacturer.

  334. Library Shapes
  335. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
  336. A common question asked is about additional shapes to those
  337. available in the standard shape file. When you register, you get
  338. eight additional libraries with hundreds of shapes and arrowheads.
  339.  
  340. If you still want to "roll your own", there is a shape library technical
  341. supplement in the user's manual that you get on registration. Creating shapes
  342. is fairly technical, but the standard shape library provides many examples
  343. that you can build upon.
